Youth apprenticeship brings systems of education and industry together to develop the skills that students and employers need today in a modern economy – essential soft skills like communication, collaboration, and resiliency.
CareerWise apprentice occupations are vetted to ensure they’re in demand and that there are no dead ends – every youth apprenticeship can lead to high-growth and high-wage career paths.
Apprentices are hired by employers through a competitive process – just like any other hire, only this applicant pool is recruited through high schools by CareerWise. Once hired, apprentices receive CareerWise job-readiness training to prepare them for a professional environment, and then split their time between their traditional high school classroom and the workplace.
CareerWise youth apprenticeships are designed to be competency-based, meaning once an apprentice becomes proficient in the job they’re training for, the employer can hire them full time (provided, of course, the apprentice has already graduated high school).
CareerWise works with local school districts to create the framework for an applied-learning environment that meets district standards, recruit students, ensure apprentice work and school schedules are optimized, and acts an intermediary to ensure a streamlined experience for both apprentices and employers.
The career competencies are industry driven – employers work with CareerWise to develop training plans that are based on in-demand competencies developed by industry experts to provide value to everyone.
